During the adventure you will need to keep and update your Diary: you have 10 points of RESISTANCE and 6 points to assign as you like between FORCE and WILL. When you face tests, you will be prompted to add the value of one of these two features to a roll of the die. A low value of FORCE will expose you to physical dangers, and a low value of WILL could make you an easy prey of MADNESS. This indicates the deterioration of your mental status in relation to the horrors you will face during the journey.
You start the adventure as well-balanced and sound of mind, but your condition may worsen after failing trials (or following other situations), thus gaining levels in the Diary’s MADNESS table and collecting the related Malus when you venture in the Dreamlands…
Dagon
A literary adventure where you can face firsthand the horrors told by H. P. Lovecraft among the most famous classic stories ofThe Cthulhu Mythos: Dagon, The Festival and The Hound. You will travel through the streets of Kingsport facing monstrous creatures, exploring nightmarish territories and crossing the border that divides dream from reality. Will you be able to prevent the Yule ritual from taking place, saving humanity from a gruesome fate, or will you just go crazy?
Carcosa
This second chapter of The Necronomicon Gamebook saga will draw you into the grim fantasies of Ambrose Bierce, Robert W. Chambers and Howard P. Lovecraft adapting 7 short stories dedicated to the King in Yellow! Armed with a die and a pencil, you will traverse haunted places and come up against dark ancestral forces. To try and ward them off, you will use the powerful artefacts and ancient spells of The Necronomicon.
Kadath
A volume that adapts H. P. Lovecraft’s immortal classic, Kadath, into an interactive adventure set in the Dreamlands where you will face some of his most iconic creatures, like Cthulhu and Nyarlathotep to try to save our reality from breaking apart!
The Necronomicon Gamebook – Kadath represents an extension of the Dreamlands chapters in Dagon and Carcosa, and broadens the gaming experience, but can also be read individually.
The Necronomicon Gamebook – Kadath will take you to the dark heart of the Dreamlands, where the truce between the nightmare priests is about to shatter.
Nyarlathotep, the crawling chaos, aims to extend his dominions beyond the ineffable, to bend mankind to his own perverse will and draw on the power of veneration.
The first servant of Azathoth, the oldest and most powerful of the Great Old Ones, wants to awaken his lord, the Daemon Sultan that bubbles at the center of all infinity.
Our reality exists only in the broken mind of this primal entity, consumed by its own power. Awakening the Greatest God could mean the end of everything.
However, Azathoth is not the only sleeping abomination upon which the fate of all existence hangs. Cthulhu, a blasphemous deity who waits dreaming in the lost underwater city of R’lyeh, worshipped by degenerate populations to whom he whispers orders in the form of nightmares, does not accept the end of his oniric sovereignty.
The creature, trapped in its eternal torpor, is unable to face Nyarlathotep, but intends to prevent the arrival on Earth of his incarnation, the King in Yellow, and the spawns of the cursed city of Carcosa, summoned to earth by a corrupted science.
And here you come in, Cultist, heir of Dagon, the bestial herald of the Sleeper. Your ancestors share their blood with the beast and its inheritance now flows in your veins.
Attracted by an ancestral call during the ritual that every century opens a bridge towards the Dreamlands, you will go beyond the boundaries of time and space to move the needle of the Armageddon.”
